New Uploads and success

So it turns out I totally forgot to upload the 3 games I made for the More is Better Jam, back in May. I made 3 games, just silly experimental stuff, but lots of fun to work on.
I also started work on 2 others. One of them is going to be my next main release! MaoXMao is a short metroidvania about escaping a factory with some cats. It's thematically inspired by Escape from Puppy Death Factory, as well as a story I heard from John Green that Mao ordered the extermination of cats and dogs as he considered pets to be bourgeois. I also had fun animating cats, because cats. That'll be out in a few weeks.
I also started working on a multiplayer zombie shooter, focused on gamepad use. That was fun, but as I only have one standard PC gamepad, I ran into a bunch of issues progressing to the actual multiplayer component, and decided to put it to one side.
In other news, Chick Flaps has inexplicably made me some actual money in the last year, which is pretty good for a clone I made in 8 hours. Makes me want to make more things- even though it's not actually in any way a sustainable income, passive income is a fun thing to experience, even in small doses.

Otherwise, I'm busy working and learning tons on placement. Got some projects going on myself, but Imma probably never make enough of them to go public.

MOTH MAZES

So this team project I've been working on with University is coming to an end, and I developed a game as part of the product we've been working on.

It's called Moth Mazes, and is part of the new Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Entomological Society (DaNES) website. They're a local charity/organisation promoting entomology and conservation, and this project was to modernise their site and web presence. The site was a team effort, but the game was all me.

Absence of content

Been a fair while since my last post, but that's because I've been doing a bunch of stuff but without much to show for it.
  • Started a new job.
  • Finished writing Bullet and Cigarette. Now onto editing, and presumably rewriting a whole load of it.
  • Working on a new album- Cryptids. It's sort of an industrial/grindcore/electronic mix. I've no doubt it's my best content to date, and I'm hoping it'll be done by the end of the year.
  • University! So much uni work! But it'll be out of the way to some extent soon so I'll have time to update this site again.

Anyway that's basically it. Nothing to consume as of yet, but I doubt you expected as such anyway.

Android Games!

I've started making games for Android, and taking game development a bit more seriously in general.
Currently I've made two Android games, Chick Flaps (a flapping bird game) and Distraction Kills, which is a bit more original.

I intend to do many more, but please check these ones out in the mean time.

Also you may note I've started using the name Antagonist Industries in these new releases. More on that to come.

New game: A_VOID

8/30/2013

So I went and made a game for Ludum Dare 27. The theme was 10 seconds, which was a little disappointing, as you may remember I actually made SD10 for the very same theme a few years back.
However I'd already been brainstorming a game for the 'glitch' theme, and decided to hybridize the two, utilising my previous experience and all the glitch aesthetic research I did for Thalidomide and a couple of more recent experiments.
The result, after about 12 hours of work in a stupidly busy weekend, was A_VOID. A glitchcore avoid-em-up about escaping collapsing glitchy dimensions witin 10 seconds. It worked really well and I'm pretty pleased with it, and would dare say it's some of my best work game wise. Sadly, due to my insistence on/necessity of using outdated tech, there's a crash bug when you die (or something else related to multiple sounds playing at once.) If you're on an OS older than Windows 8 you're probably fine. This may indicate that I should start looking at upgrading my development materials.
Anyway, it's available from here, enjoy!

The first new game of 2013

Well that 1GAM thing didn't work out quite how I'd planned. But of course it didn't. I'm me!

Anyway, I finally made and finished something interactive this year.
It's a Twine story, barely even a game, but it's my most personal work to date if nothing else.
It's called Fishing with Dad, and I made it for the 7 day fishing Jam. It'll only take a few minutes to play.

In other news Adventure Time has inspired me to start making proper games again. Working on something good, but I'm off on holiday today. I'll probably post some more stuff about it on the webs next week.

Soooo it's 2013 and I'm taking part in #1GAM, in which I should ideally be releasing a new, full game every month. I intend to do this so as to actually have some proper content on a regular basis, and also to create things which I can then greatly expand upon and monetise so as to turn this into at least a part time paying gig and therefore make more things and more moneys and then infinite loop.

Also expect much more writing and music in the nearistic futures.
